Pressed flower frames

Blending artistry and nature into handcrafted designs to hold your memories for years to come

Hi, I’m Meghan

Welcome to Petal & Leaf

Your wedding flowers are more than just a part of your day; they are a symbol of your love story. By transforming your blooms into a pressed flower frame, we can preserve this piece of your story for years to come. This method of preservation not only honors the flowers themselves, but also the special moments and people they represent. Why let them go to waste when you can give them a new life as a unique piece of art?!

P&L was born in 2020 before my own wedding when I decided I needed to save my bouquet. I’ve always had a love for fresh flowers, and the bouquet planning process was very important to me. I knew I would not want to just throw them away after all the energy and money put towards them. After I had no luck finding a vendor who’s style matched my vision for my bouquet, I self-taught myself to preserve flowers, and thus began my flower-pressing journey! I spent the year practicing, and after 100s of experiments, failures, and the death of my husband’s high school yearbooks (do NOT press flowers in yearbooks or any nice book for that matter), I created my own methodical process for preservation through pressing and made several pieces that we can cherish for a lifetime. After quickly falling in love with this hobby and upgrading to actual flower presses, I decided nothing would make me happier than to do this for others. If you’ve made it this far, I am so happy you’re here! Let’s create something beautiful!

What My Clients Say

FAQ's

01. How long will you have my flowers?

5-12 weeks. Some flowers take longer to dry than others + the design process takes time. If you are a bride during the busy season (June-Nov), you will be closer to the 12 week timeframe.

02. Can all flowers be pressed?

No. There are some flowers that just don't do well with this method of preservation. Every pressable flower received will be pressed in order to get the most usable material.

03. How soon do I need to book?

The sooner, the better. Most clients book this service 6-9 months in advance. Booking is first come, first serve. It takes hours to get the bouquets pressed and preserved so I can only take a limited number each week since they are time-sensitive and need to be pressed before wilting begins.

04. Do you press already dried bouquets?

No. If the flowers are already dried, they cannot be pressed as they will then be too delicate to withstand the pressing process. However, we can arrange them in a shadow box instead.

05. Will the colors change?

Yes. The colors can and WILL change in the pressing process, some more dramatically than others. This is natural. For example, reds and purples tend to get darker. Whites and light pinks can yellow or brown a bit.

06. How do I get my flowers to you?

It is your responsibility to get your flowers to me. When it is closer to your wedding week, we will coordinate drop off if you are local. If you are a far away bride, I will send you shipping instructions, and you will need to overnight your flowers to me the day after the event.

07. When do you need to get the flowers by?

I really prefer to get the flowers within 1-2 days of your event before they start to fall apart or wilt for best possible outcome, but up to a week may be acceptable in some cases. Your flowers will be worked with in the condition they are received.

08. how long will the frame last?

Your frame will last for years, but the flowers will change and age, just like you and your marriage (: and that makes them that much more special. The flowers may fade in color as the years go by. That's Mother Nature! To slow this process, do NOT hang your frame in direct light. Also do not display your frame where they may be exposed to moisture (bathrooms).

09. What color frames can I choose from?

Depends on size but usually black, plain white, distressed white, gold, gray, and natural wood float frames are options included in the price. If you have a special frame you'd like to use, you are welcome to show me that instead and we can adjust price. Typical sizes are 11x14 and 16x20 or even up to 18x24.

10. Do you use any dyes or do color correcting?

No. I prefer to let Mother Nature do her thing. However the flowers dry is how they will look and be used. Every preservationist has a different style! For me, I just prefer the most natural look possible even if it does mean change over time.

11. Will I see my frame before it's finished?

Yes. I always send a picture of the frame before it's glued together to make sure you are getting a piece you love! Any design changes can be made at this point.

12. Do you accept all-white bouquets?

I do accept all-white bouquets. However, pressing may not be the best method of preservation for those of you choosing the all-white or light pink bouquets! If you are a bride planning to have this classic bouquet style, please let me know during inquiry so I can send you additional info to make sure this is the best option for you. White flowers will yellow quite a bit over the years, ultimately giving the frame a more vintage look.

I can't wait to chat about creating your frame!

Wedding bouquets are reserved on a first come first serve basis. Please inquire to see if your date is available. Funeral flowers/personal pieces will only be done depending on current openings and availability. Shadow boxes can be worked in since we are not on a timecrunch, unlike fresh flowers that need to be pressed while they are still in good shape.
